《警察故事》拍到这里已经是第四集，时间跨度也已经超过十年，这个打着“成龙”标签的最优秀的电影系列，在制作阵容上依然延续上一集由唐季礼担当指导，他还参与了剧本的编写。在演员阵容方面，除却成龙这个铁打的警察主演依然坚守，其他演员全部换光，甚至包括前三集的女主角：张曼玉。本片的上映，让唐季礼跟成龙合作持续风光。

Each man kills the things he loves, but this “holf-man” just strives to save and protect — at the expense of himself. The gentle portrayal occasionally takes on a fairytale quality, but the repeated emphasis on inmates’ inability to adapt to freedom proves ultimately pessimistic.
